About me
Dr Helen Stanley, Clinical Psychologist
BSc (Hons), DClinPsych
I am a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist. Prior to, and since completing my professional doctorate training in 2010, I have worked in a variety of different teams and services across the NHS, working with adults, young people and children experiencing a variety of mental health and psychological difficulties. I continue to work part time in the NHS, whilst offering private psychological assessment and therapy in the Portsmouth & Southsea area.

As a qualified clinical psychologist, I am trained and experienced in a number of therapeutic models and approaches (including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). I continue to develop my knowledge and skills through ongoing training. My training allows me to tailor our work together to address your individual needs and presenting difficulties using individually tailored assessment and intervention. My overall aim is to help you to overcome or learn to manage your current difficulties, and ultimately to improve your psychological well-being and quality of life when these may have been challenged by your current experiences.
